Cabinwood's Hondo Lane
DOB:
June 25. 2008
22"
Dark brown jack with sorrel highlights & black legs!
Sire: Ozark's Red
Sierra 32 3/4" Dark sorrel
Dam:
4-Z's Spitfire 31 1/2" Dark brown
Boys! Boys! Boys! Hondo is
our last Red Sierra foal of the 2008
breeding year...5 great boys in a row!
Can you believe it! Spitzy delivered him
with ease around 4:30am with Al and
myself and granddaughter Alexandria on
hand to watch. No help was necessary and
as usual, Spitzy is a great Mom! This
little guy was up and looking for fun
and frolic almost immediately!
Just when you think you've seen your
best donkey born, darn if another one
comes along!!
Hondo is a real mixed bag of colors!
Like his half-brother Jake, he too has
the 4 coal black legs from the knees
down. His body is a dark brown body hair with shades of sorrel here
and there. His face is dark with big
light eye-rings like his Mom's and
very heavy with sorrel highlights. In the
center of his forehead he sports a small
star of white hairs!!! This little guy
is another exceptional example of Red
Sierra's strong conformation and solid build combined with the colors
and great conformation of his
Dam 4-Z's Spitfire...obviously by his looks,
this is a truly
successful combination!
Hondo Lane is named after John Wayne's
character in the 1953 movie Hondo.

Cabinwood's "Guns" Donovan
(Gunny)
DOB:
June 18. 2008
20"
Dark sorrel jack
Sire: Ozark's Red
Sierra 32 3/4" Dark sorrel
Dam: KansAss
Laughlin's Star 34" Dark sorrel
Tiny Gunny snuck into Cabinwood Farm
without anyone knowing!! I had gone off
to the monthly DonkeyPals meeting and
while I was gone Star delivered this
little fellow all by herself! She wasn't
due till the 4th of July so we just
weren't expecting her to deliver so
early!!
He is a tiny little guy but he was up
and nursing soon after his birth and
given a few extra days to get some
strength and secure his wobbly legs
we're sure he'll be out running with the
other boys real soon!! He has the usual
Red Sierra good looks!!
Gunny is named after the John Wayne
character Michael Patrick "Guns" Donovan
from the 1963 film Donovan's Reef.

Cabinwood's Big Jake
DOB:
June 18. 2008
21
1/2"
Dark Brn jack with black legs!
Sire: Ozark's Red
Sierra 32 3/4" Dark sorrel
Dam:
ASSphalt Acres Olivia 32" Dk Brown
Once
in awhile a foal comes along that all you have
to do is look at and you KNOW he is something
special. Big Jake was only a day old when these
pictures were taken but already he is poised and
postured for greatness!!! His
birth was quick and his mother Olivia is doing a
wonderful job taking care of this boy!! We are
very proud of her and of this little jack!
His coloring is very striking with
all 4 legs from the knee down jet black
and his body then is a dark brown with
contrasting shades of brown/ black. His
gums are perfect, legs all around are
straight and solid and he is so sure of
himself that the first day after
his birth he strutted right into the
pasture and announced his arrival! Red
Sierra has given us one fantastic boy
after another this year and Jake is the
best so far!!!! We
will be watching this boy very
carefully.
Jake is named after the John Wayne
Character Jacob McCandles in the 1971
movie Big Jake.

Cabinwood's Clifford the Red
DOB:
May 12. 2008
22"
Dark sorrel jack
Sire: Ozark's Red
Sierra 32 3/4" Dark sorrel
Dam:
MGF Venus Mon Cherie 33 1/2" Dark sorrel
Mon Cherie wasn't due
for another week so luckily when I
checked her bag at my final barn check
last night and saw its milky color I put
her in her own barn area before I went
to bed!! Sometime around 3am darn if she
didn't go and foal and I missed it! The
first foal here at Cabinwood Farm I
haven't seen come into this world!
Regardless, Cherie did a fine job
without my assistance and gave us our
second Sierra sorrel jack foal! He was
up and active by the time I got to the
barn and Cherie was munching on a flake
of hay. Much like his half brother
Kirby, Clifford is straight on in the
legs, has great gum alignment and looks
to be a fine and handsome fellow. He is a bit
longer in the body and has a little bit
different shaped head so hopefully that
will help us tell them apart when they
all get together in the pasture!
This time we have broken from our
tradition of naming jacks after John
Wayne characters and given this little
guy the name Clifford the Red
after my youngest son CJ (Clifford
James) and his best childhood
friend...Clifford the Big Red Dog!

Cabinwood's Kirby York
(Kirby)
DOB:
May 11. 2008
22"
Dark sorrel jack
Sire: Ozark's Red
Sierra 32 3/4" Dark sorrel
Dam:
Double N Royal Klass
32 3/4" Dark brown MSF
Kirby is our very first home
breeding foal out of herdsire Ozark's
Red Sierra! He was born quickly in the
wee hours of Mother's Day 2008. His
height was 22" but he is a tiny little
fellow in body with straight, straight
legs, aligned gums, and a very
interesting color...Yes, he is a
sorrel...he has red eye lashes and a
nice sorrel face and body. Klass is being a wonderful mother and
keeping him close even though he seems
to want to race from one side of the
barn to the other!!!
Following Cabinwood Tradition for naming
jacks, Kirby is named after "Kirby York"
the John Wayne character in the 1950
movie
Rio Grande and the 1948 movie Fort Apache.
This little guy is as cute as a
button!!!!!
Kirby is now on our For Sale page. Anyone
with interest in Kirby should email
cabinwoodfarm@gmail.com for
more pics or for more information.

Cabinwood's Kaitlin Elizabeth
(Kaitie)
DOB:
April 4, 2008
22"
gray-dun jennet
Sire: Windcrest Little
Bentley 32" dk brn and white spot
Dam:
Pine Grove Farm Chutney
31 1/2" brown-dun
Our first foal of the year Little Kaitie
Beth came in to this world on a cold and
rainy April afternoon. Al and I were
lucky once again to be on hand to
witness the birth. Once up and around
and dried off, Katie looks exactly like
her mother Chutney...same color and same
big beautiful eyes and head that
attracted me to Chutney in the first place.
Katie has pin straight legs, a good
solid build, great behind and perfectly aligned gums.
She was a "lively" foal even before she
was born and now, she is giving her Mom
a real time of it! Boy, does this girl
have "presence!"
She is named
after our youngest son's girlfriend
Kaitlin and my friend and old neighbor
Elizabeth.
We will be keeping
this terrific little girl for our own
breeding program. Girls were just too
hard to come by this year to let this
one go!
